Cannabis has a long, controversial history in the United States. Most states have medical marijuana programs now. But the effects of America’s “reefer madness” of the early 20th century continue in several others.

Decriminalization, and even legalization (at least at the state level) of cannabis in many parts of the US has been a huge sigh of relief for people who previously had to break the law for their medicine.
